Making the Switch from Novell to Microsoft

An architecture firm that specializes in a total project management and complete quality control approach to their projects, with three locations in California, wanted to make the move to Microsoft.

Although the company had used a Novell system for a number of years, they decided to make the move from Novell to a Microsoft environment to take advantage of the versatility found in the Microsoft portfolio of server and business productivity products.

The original plan presented by another company was to upgrade their systems, then slowly migrate each of their offices, one at a time, to Microsoft. What held them back? They were told the whole process would take nine months!

Enter All Covered. All Covered delivered a very detailed project plan that outlined specific tasks, timelines, and advanced notices to minimize end-user downtime. After All Covered assessed their environment, it was discovered that their hardware was in adequate condition and met the recommended requirements of a Windows environment, which immediately translated to time and money saved. All Covered was also able to coordinate efforts so that all three offices were moved at the same time to eliminate any incompatibility issues between the two platforms.

In the end, the project that was originally quoted to take nine months and cost thousands of dollars came in at 45 days from start to finish and under budget.
